About This Program

The J1 Intern & Trainee program allows Hospitality & Culinary university students or recent graduates to temporarily travel and live in the U.S while learning the latest industry trends and best practices from some of the most prominent hotel chains and branded Travel and tourism corporations. Experience the American hospitality culture. Put into practice your knowledge and talents while improving your skills training with some of the hospitality and culinary leaders of the world.

It’s connecting with people and earning their trust while you do your very best to create a perfect environment, a memorable meal, a wonderful experience. The secret to great hospitality is not available in any book, it needs practice, and its master by observing and doing! What will I be doing?

Eligibility

INTERNS

  • Must currently be a full-time student or

  • A recent graduate (No more than 12 months ago) holding a post-secondary academic degree from an institution outside of the U.S.

  • Must speak fluent English
    Must commit to leaving the U.S. within thirty (30) days following the last day of the J1 program.

  • Positions are 6 – 12 months in duration

TRAINEES

  • Must be a recent graduate, or

  • A professional with at least 5 years of related work experience.

  • Must speak excellent English.

  • Must commit to leaving the U.S. within thirty (30) days following the last day of the J1 program.

  • Positions are 6 – 18* months in duration.

The Process

Step 1 - Program Expectations and Eligibility:

It all starts with a simple step! Filling the application form, which will take you through some basic questions to pre-assess your eligibility. Once we receive it, we will invite you for a quick call to talk and make sure this is a good option for you! We will discuss what you would like to get out of this experience and ensure you are eligible for the program based on the current regulations. We will also assess your English level to ensure suitability.

Step 2 - Application Process:

There are certain documents we have to collect as part of your application to the program. We’ll walk you through what is needed and give you access to our online application system so you can begin to complete the information.

Step 3 - Placement:

We will support you through the interview and placement process to find the best opportunity for your program. We have a variety of placements to choose from depending on your career field and any other factors important to you (type of company, rate of pay, location, etc.) All of our placements offers are paid. If you have identified your own placement, we will review the offer and assist you with the necessary paperwork. All placements require a detailed and signed Training Plan.

Step 4 - Paperwork Insurance:

Once your application is complete and host company placement secured, we will provide you with the required paperwork needed for your J-1 visa appointment.

Step 5 - Visa Appointment:

You can request your J-1 visa appointment with your local U.S. Embassy or Consulate once you receive your DS-2019 and signed Training/Internship Placement Plan. This typically requires a fee of $160 for the appointment.

Step 6 - Arrival To The US:

Step 7 - Return Home:

As this is an exchange program, you are expected to go back home once your program is completed. You will be given a 30 day period to after your last day to complete all necessary processes and report back home.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I check-in monthly with you?

Yes. Because your safety is our primary concern, you will be required to check-in with us every month while you are abroad. But we are also here whenever you need us! We provide you with 24/7 support from our dedicated team of staff.

What is the host employer’s role?

It’s an honor and a privilege for businesses to participate in the program. They will ensure you train alongside seasoned professionals and gain additional work experience to build upon your current skills.

How much does the program cost? (SWT)

The program costs USD$1,750. or the equivalent in your local currency. (Prices are subject to changes)

How long does each program last?

4 months maximum

Who will help me find housing?

Many positions offer housing, but some do not. We will always provide you with viable housing options that are affordable and a reasonable distance from your worksite.
